For years MBE’s 11 Degree Big Chief cylinder head has been one of its most popular designs for big block NHRA Sportsman racing. The previous design has always been a proven winner on the track, and now MBE has pushed its advantage over the competition with a new advanced cylinder head design with updated intake and exhaust ports.
To develop this cylinder head, MBE pulled together lessons learned from its winning NHRA and IHRA Pro Stock programs along with its 18 record-holding Comp Eliminator customers to develop ports that are perfectly sized to both maximize airflow and port velocity. The new design is capable of flowing an incredible 364 cfm through the exhaust port while still using the same 1.800-inch diameter exhaust valve.
Dyno testing has also proven the effectiveness of MBE’s new Big Chief cylinder head. Working with Super Comp World Champ Gary Stinnet, an early production pair of these groundbreaking new heads produced a 35 horsepower improvement over MBE’s class leading previous-generation design. That means these new 11 Degree Big Chief cylinder heads beat the very best competitor’s cylinder heads by as much as 70 horsepower!
