The first year this head was introduced, it was on race cars that set and reset the NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car records for E.T. and MPH and incredible seven times! They won the Funny Car championship in both 2011 and 2012. And when it comes to the king-of-the-hill Top Fuel class, in 2012 MBE claimed not only the championship but also the top three finishing positions! With these heads, there simply is no competition. In fact, the NHRA had to make rule changes because of this cylinder head design in order to give the competition a chance on the race track.
MBE has invested a lot of proprietary technology into its Top Fuel and Funny Car cylinder head design that no other induction specialist can reproduce, but we can tell you that the secret to its success is an incredibly efficient port design. Many feel that perfect ports aren’t important when you can simply bolt a giant supercharger on top of your race engine, but MBE has proven that simply isn’t true. By moving air and fuel more efficiently, these heads actually lower the boost pressure by three pounds. As a result, teams are able to make passes with less ignition timing and a lower blower overdrive ratio. This makes the engine more predictable while still gaining around six miles per hour at the finish line. Plus, engine durability is even improved!
